It is highly recommended that each organization appoint qualified individuals to manage, update, and communicate the security policies. Each security policy compilation should be divided into subsections to make it easy to follow and reference.

Security policies are important for any organization. At times, employees roll their eyes when they see the security policy lectures scheduled or handbooks disseminated. However, security policies create a solid foundation that is used for instructional and accountability purposes. Managers and employees need to understand the content of the security policies in order to enforce and follow them.

Blackhat 2013 (Part 3)

Blackhat 2013’s keynote speaker was General Alexander, Director of the NSA. He covered many topics and answered several questions from the Blackhat crowd. The main topic of his conversation focused on the NSA’s surveillance capabilities. He stated that his goal was to clear up what the surveillance programs were doing and what they were not doing.

Blackhat 2013 (Part 2)

Blackhat 2013 featured many information system security experts sharing their knowledge in various breakout sessions. Each Blackhat attendee chose which sessions they wanted to attend. Each Blackhat presenter was allotted a little over an hour to complete their presentation. The topics of the presentations at Blackhat this year included some new areas of hacking to include hacking IP surveillance cameras, which I found to be the best presentation of the conference.

Blackhat 2013

We attended the Blackhat conference last week in Las Vegas. It began with a terrific keynote address by General Alexander, Director of the National Security Agency (NSA). The audience at Blackhat had mixed reactions to the keynote address, but most supported General Alexander as he described some of their surveillance capabilities. A few Blackhat members in the crowd yelled occasional words to show their disagreements with General Alexander, but he handled it very well and didn’t let it distract his message.
