We live in a digital world. Information is passed from one person or entity to another at faster speeds than ever before. New information transmission technologies emerge continuously. With the increased speed of commerce due to these technological advancements, information security is more important and challenging than ever for organizations that maintain important, sensitive, or even confidential information. As the new technologies flood the marketplace, many are concerned that information security solutions are finding it difficult to stay ahead of new threats.

The information highway is broad and widely available. Criminals and other problematic people are aware of the amount of content traveling on that highway and seek to compromise it. Protecting the information from people with ill intent requires adequate information security.

The government and commercial entities realize the possibility of new vulnerabilities when new devices are installed and connected to information networks. There are various standards in place that are designed to provide information assurance.  Information assurance is an important aspect of information security because it focuses on ensuring that new network devices don’t cause vulnerabilities when they are installed. Procedures and protocols are very important aspects of information security because several problems can arise if people are freely allowed to manipulate information systems.

Information security is important for all types of businesses. Employee, payroll, human resources, sales, and many other types of information must be secured to eliminate unnecessary damage to companies and individuals. Different network threats continue to arise so information security is an ongoing and critical task. The information network is the backbone of many corporations so providing information security should be a top priority for all.

Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you here at The O next week.
